Acrylic – Petal pot

Step 1

Love painting? Then grab everything from the ‘What Your Need’ list because we’re potty about it too. First things first, paint a nice smooth base coat using lilac acrylic paint on your terracotta plant pot. Acrylic is just the thing for this job; even though it’s water-soluble to mix and thin down, once dry it will stay put even when it rains. Remember to wash your brush between colours.

Step 2

When the lilac has dried, paint a semi circle using your pale yellow, then fill it in. This will be the centre of the lovely flower that you’re creating. Now paint five petals around it in naples yellow. If the lilac shows through, wait for it to dry and apply another coat of yellow.

Step 3

Now paint a thick outline around the centre in pale olive, and outline the petals in viridian green to help them stand out. Use your viridian green to outline the centre for your unique pot where the flowers grow on the outside! Finally, give your brush a very thorough last wash as acrylic can be tricky to remove when dry.

Make sure to thoroughly wash your brushes between changing colour.
