What you’ll need

  • Watercolour Paint
  • Sketching Pencil
  • Watercolour paper
  • Watercolour brushes
  • Clean water

STEP 1

Start by sketching a pizza-shaped slice on watercolour paper. Then prepare your palette; with red, yellow, crimson, green and black watercolour.

STEP 2

Create a light pink wash with a wide brush and work from light to dark to fill the watermelon, leaving a small piece unfilled at the top. In this space add your watermelon rind using a yellow wash.

STEP 3

Build up the body of the watermelon with a darker red wash. Add the final edge of the rind in green, don’t forget to include some seeds and you’re done.

For the best results make sure you thoroughly wash your brushes between changing colour!
